This is a short posting which illustrates the final session I hold with classes that I have taught over two sessions. In the 2024-25 session, these were SWAP Nurses, Level 6 Counselling and Level 6 Social Care / Social Work. They all took the demanding double unit, Communication (NC).
I have always felt that this unit covers so much ground, right from the very first class, where every hour counts, and it really demands some sort of closure. I choose to reflect using this structure, and the sessions do last the full two hours. Both lecturer and learner(s) get a good reflective workout for sure!
Running order of the session, which I call "OUR Communication Journey":
Students are reminded of just how much ground is covered undertaking this reflective exercise in the classes and the "academic survivors" really do see a sense of achievement, quite rightly so.
